My husband and I will be spending 12 days in Ireland with our small children. We want to try and maximize our time there with sites to see and also keep it interesting for the little ones ( 2 and 3 yrs old ). Any recommendations? Also, can you rent a cell phone to use while in Ireland for the stay? If so where would you get it and any idea of how much it would be? Thank you!
I haven't traveled with little ones in Ireland, so I can't help you there. As for the phone, just stop into a cellphone store and buy a cheap, pay as you go phone. It will most likely come with enough minutes already loaded that you won't need to top it up, but they can tell you how to do that if you need to. It would definitely be cheaper than renting. You should be able to find one for $35-40, possibly less.
Blarney castle has lovely grounds, weather permitting. Maybe one of you could go to castle, one let little ones play on the grounds and then switch places. Haven't been there but Nancy who posts a lot here will tell you about the donkey sanctuary, might be fun for little ones. We are going to Hawk sanctuary at Ashford Castle end of the month, from what I have read, you can have hawks land on your hands, maybe little ones might enjoy seeing this. Good luck and enjoy.
Sure, I would be happy to tell you about the donkey sanctuary! It is near Liscarroll, and is free to visit. It also overlooks a 12th century castle ruin. Their website is www.thedonkeysanctuary.ie if you want to know more.
