I am guessing if we don't to stand that the best seats are the ones on the lower level. Is there any way to get a discount. I (to be honest) haven't priced them, but assume like everything else, they aren't cheap. And I want the best we can get for this memorable event! Thanks!
They aren't that bad. There's a seating plan online, and you can buy the tickets online. I did groundling, and I did the first balcony... enjoyed both. One was a last minute purchase, the other I bought around a month in advance (for first balcony). Buy ASAP, they sell out quickly. If you go to the exhibit, I think there is sometimes a coupon on the back of your ticket for a discount, but this isn't much use for getting them in advance.
The lowest level isn't necessarily the best - it varies a great deal depending on your ears and the actors' voices, but there have been niggling acoustic problems in the rear seats on the lower level with some people having difficulty hearing the dialogue properly. Also if you are on the lower level you may be disturbed by badly-behaved groundlings if you are unlucky (beware of bored pissed-off high school students).
If you can stand for two or three hours (you aren't allowed to sit on the ground during the play because of fire brigade licensing issues) I would say standing is the best experience.
