Globe theater shows

What is the website for globe theater in London? My husband and I will be there between May 24 and May 27 and I definitly want to do a tour, but I also heard that they do plays there during the summer.

Does anyone have experience with these? What do you recommend?

Just put Globe Theatre into google, and it comes up in the first five sites. There's a link to the box office.

I've been to several plays there, enjoyed them all, both as groundling and up a level. The plays change each year, so it's just what interests you the most. Not everything is on all the time, so you might not have a lot of choice. For when you're there, I'd recommend Macbeth over Henry VIII.

There aren't a lot of seats left for your dates, so BOOK NOW if you want to see something. This includes groundling tickets, they sell out too.

I can't recommend anything at the moment in the way of plays as the season hasn't started.

You get the best view of the action standing, but you will have to stand for the whole 2-3 hours (as if they let you sit on the floor fire regulations would cut the capacity to an unsustainable level) and you will get wet if it rains. If you stand make sure that you have eaten enough during the day - there are regular cases of people fainting and having to be carried out which is embarrassing for the person and disruptive to those around them.

Seating is more expensive and doesn't give as good a view except from the very best seats, but you get to sit down and don't get wet. Be warned that the stairs to the Middle and Upper Galleries are long, although not steep or scary, and there is very limited elevator provision reserved for the seriously mobility-impaired. Seats in the front rows of the Upper Gallery are not recommended for those with serious fear of heights.

If you just want a tour I would suggest going in the morning - during the afternoon and evening the theatre itself is strictly reserved for people with performance tickets.

hi Chantielle! www.shakespeares-globe.org. This year's season looks great. As Philip said, if you want to visit the exhibit and tour the theatre, you should go in the morning. I've attended as a 'groundling' standing in the pit for over three hours (the best value theatrical experience in London, but only for the fit and those who enjoy Shakespeare!) and also sat in the Lower Gallery. What's nice that the seating arrangements and atmosphere encourage total strangers to talk to each other. The plays are performed in 'natural light' as much as possible, hence there are only performances in the summer. If you get a seat, it's worth it to pay extra at the door for a cushion - you really start feeling those wooden seats an hour into the performance.
