Glendalough

We plan to driving immediately from Dublin to the Wicklow mountains & were thinking about staying in Glendaough. Any suggestions about staying in that area? I can't really tell if it will be too isolated to even find meals & have no idea about B&Bs in that area. Is there a good site to find B&Bs in Ireland? It seems every one I check has totally different places to stay.

You can look at the Glendalough Lodge and they have a dining room as well as a tavern that serves simple meals, sandwiches, etc. The Lodge is well positioned for hiking in Glendalough. We were in Ireland in October and stayed at Riversdale B&B. You will have to hike across the river(stones are your path over it) and walk about a half mile to dine at GL. I don't recall seeing other B&B's that close to Glendalough. We found this accommodation on inet search. There was another one that looked really nice but located further away and there would be the problem of how far to drive for dinner. Can't recall the name of that place but it was a stone Georgian house surrounded by gardens and the owner was a retired teacher. Riversdale was less expensive than the Lodge. The area is a bit isolated but really beautiful & quiet. Hope this helps!

Avoca isn't very far away from Glendalough, and it has several B&Bs. Your best bet for finding B&Bs is www.discoverireland.com, which is the official Ireland tourism website. They have listings by geographical area.
