I will be coming into Glasgow from Oban on the train the day before I fly home to USA from Glasgow International Airport. Need a place to stay one night that will let me get to the airport at 6am on a weekday without anxiety. Have never been to Glasgow & don't know anything about the ins & outs of its transportation systems. Not worried about sightseeing as much as a decent evening meal & clean, quiet place to sleep before a long flight. Does it make the most sense to suck it up & pay for an airport hotel (which one?), or is there a nice place an easy cab ride away? Suggestions will be much appreciated!

The Glasgow Airport is 7 miles west of the city center. With your timing, you want to keep things simple that morning and make it easy on yourself and not push your luck. The solution is the one hotel on the airport grounds, the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport, 1/3 of a mile from the terminal and here's the link: click hereThere's also a Premier Inn just across from the airport, if you want to compare rates. I was looking at a place in Paisley that is supposedly only 10 minutes' drive from the airport, but the very early departure precludes the usual breakfast anyway, & waiting for a taxi at dawn can be nerve-wracking. Guess the airport hotel is the most sensible. Thanks for the link.
