Glasgow's Newest Attraction - Does it change your plans?

We've had some discussion on the Helpline as to how much time to spend in Glasgow. Edinburgh's history, its Castle, The Royal Mile, and more easily attract tourists, and Scotland's biggest city is often forgotten or neglected. When I first visited Glasgow, my sister and I visited the Cathedral and then caught a night train to London. More recently, on different trips I've explored the west end including the Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove and the Transport Museum, the downtown area including The Tenement House, Willow Tea Rooms, Sauchiehall Street etc. and separately made a trip to the Burrell Collection in Pollock County Park. And, I've still not touched on all the museums. http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/Pages/home.aspx Plus the contemporary music scene in Glasgow is another good reason to visit this city. Just this month though, a new museum opened up in Glasgow - The Riverside Museum - http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/our-museums/riverside-museum/Pages/default.aspx/Pages/default.aspx This museum is the new home of the Transportation Museum and is on the Clyde and has moored outside the 19th-century sailing ship, Glasgow's Tall Ship, the Glenlee. The museum will examine Glasgow's maritime history and really sounds good. The building itself was designed by Zaha Hadid so the building itself may be a tourist destination. http://www.zaha-hadid.com/cultural/glasgow-riverside-museum-of-transport So, the question is, does this museum increase the likelihood that you'll spend time in Glasgow on your next visit to Scotland? What makes your list of "must sees" for Scotland's biggest city? Pam

I always go to Glasgow when I'm in Scotland. The museums and shopping are great, and Glaswegians are down-to-earth, funny and FUN! What's more, all those great museums are FREE! Bee

You are absolutely right! I meant to mention that in my original post! I loved the old Transport Museum when it was across the street from Kelvingrove. This new museum sounds terrific. Pam

All of the above, with the addition of Charles Rennie MacIntosh buildings - Glasgow School of Art tour and the house he designed across from the University in the west end. I've spent 4 days on each of two trips to the city. I also like the Religious Museum next to the Cathedral and the Acropolis behind it. It's a great and interesting city. City Hall is worth a peak inside, scenes from Dr. Zhivalgo were filmed in the interior.
