We'll be visiting Northern Ireland in mid-August and plan to drive to see the Giant's Causeway. We'll be tight on time and can only spend about 2 hours there. It seems the best way to see it is to park at the visitor center and either walk or take a bus to the viewing points. What would be the best way to spend 2 hours? Do the buses make a loop and how long does that take and how frequently do they run? I've searched and can't find a good web site that address these questions. Any of this kind of information would be appreciated. Am I correct in believing the direct drive back to Belfast City Airport is about 1 1/2 hours and a 1/2 hour+ longer to take the coastal route. thanx Duane
Walk down, ride the bus up. If you do it that way two hours is plenty. Not great, but plenty.
Your driving times are close. You might want to add a half hour to each in case things turn to worms.
There is a shuttle that runs from the car park to the start of the Causeway. It's a dedicated mini-bus which makes the run about every 10-15 minutes.
You can walk down it in about the same amount of time
The shuttle takes passengers down and returns with others who have completed their visit. It is worth trying to fit it in. I should think you could do it in two hours. Take seriously their warning about the slippery rocks. My wife fell there - no lasting problem but it sure gave us a fright at the time.
