Taking an early train from Euston Station so need a budget but good hotel that has easy access to Euston rail station in London but also accessible to rest of London. Ideas?
Define budget. Many hotels and b and b's around Euston train station. http://www.lsevacations.co.uk/ is an option. You can use last minute.com to find an accommodation and rate you're comfortable with. London "sites" readily accessible from this area via the Underground.
There is a very popular Ibis Hotel right next to the station, and near to that a Thistle Hotel: http://g.co/maps/k5yq3
Budget is about $150 a night with breakfast, including VAT, or $175 tops and need double bed for one person in mid June. Asking too much?
I stayed at the Ibis (www.ibishotel.com) several years ago and it works well. For other affordable chain hotels near Euston also check Travelodge (www.travelodge.co.uk) and Premier Inn (www.premierinn.com)--both have good deals if you reserve well in advance.
If coming here you will need to start thinking in £ Pounds Sterling. You $150 is under £100 - about £94. You're going to have to be lucky and, if you can get one in that price range at aplace people would want to stay you will , probably need to have a pre-paid, non changeable, non cancelable reservation made as early ahead as possible. You are talking about the time between the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. Both of those have done plenty to boost room prices, and the city is filling up. A few weeks ago I just got a reservation for the night before we take the first Eurostar of the day for our April holiday - midweek before the kids get out of school. I paid a little less - not much - but that was April and most of the places were full, or raising the prices. Most chain hotels around Euston do not include breakfast in their low(er) rates; at most figure on £6 to £20 for breakfast. How early is your early train? Our trains start at about 4:30 from Euston; for example the Ibis starts breakfast at 6:30.
