Getting to Oslo, Norway from Torp Airport

I'm going to Oslo begining of September. We are flying with RyanAir into Torp Airport. RyanAirs website talks about riding buses and/or trains into the city. What is the best way to get there? How much is it? We're on a tight budget thanks to the crazy expensive prices in Norway. Also any advise on things to see and do would be much appreciated also.

Thanks in Advance!

It has been my experience with RyanAir that there is specific transportation information on their website on the page for the airport in question. There is usually the opportunity to purchase your bus tickets on-line. This is what I always do.

Click here to see the information on the Ryanair website....interestingly enough, it refers to the airport as "Sandefjord Torp Airport" here(which is its legal name),not "Oslo Torp." The cost works out to about $50 US for a return ticket. The bus accepts only Krone or credit cards.

There is the airport express train that takes you straight into Oslo. And it is expensive - about 50-60 bucks. We were just there in May. I loved Norway but take your breath away expensive. I think we stayed at a Comfort Inn near the train station and was about $150 a night. We were backpacking and didn't make reservations anywhere so that might have made a difference. Walk around the pier - its really nice at night and has tons of good restaurants. Are you going to the Fjords? If so I would recommend going on to Bergen. Loved the town - its a 7 hour train ride from Oslo but we liked it more than Oslo.

Angela...I thought you had to take a bus or taxi to the Sandefjord station to get the train into Oslo. Have they pushed it out to the airport terminal? It also struck me the train only ran once an hour, and took about as long as the bus to get into Oslo.

Sorry Norm - I was thinking of Gardermoen Airport and that has the airport express. You were right. I just know to not take a taxi.

We'll only be there for 2 nights. Just going to see the city this time, and go back another time for the fjords and Bergen. Thanks everyone for the info.

I've heard everything is very expensive in Norway, has anyone ever eaten at a McDonalds there? When were on a tight budget when traveling we usually eat there because it's cheap. Has anyone eaten there? How expensive was it?
