We are looking for the best route from Bloomsbury (Cartwright Crescent) to Hampton Court Palace. I'm thinking the Kings Cross tube to the Vauxhall tube station on the Victoria line and then picking up the train at Vauxhall which would be coming from Waterloo Station. Then, on to Hampton Court. Will this work? Is there a better route? Thanks!
Cynthia
I find it easier to pick up the train at its origin at Waterloo station rather than Vauxhall (or any other staion along the route). You can get on the train about 10-15 minutes before departure and can leisurely (well almost) your seat - rather than doing all this in the few minutes it stands at Vauxhall. there are many different ways you can get there. I like Piccadilly line: From Russell Square or Kings Cross take the Piccadilly Line to Leicester Square, change and go south to Waterloo. This way there is only one change
It is an easy route......Kings Cross take the Victoria Line southbound to Warren Street (which would be the 2nd stop)..at Warren Street take the Northern Line southbound to Waterloo Station (it's the 6th stop). It take about 22 minutes and you have to change only once.
Thank you, both I like both options. I was thinking that we might avoid Waterloo, but now there seems no need to. I like the option of having more time at Waterloo.
There are a number of bus routes that pass near Cartwright Crescent that go directly to Waterloo (59, 68, 168). It might take longer than the tube if the traffic is bad, but you won't have the hassle of changing lines, and you get a nice view of the Thames as the bus crosses Waterloo Bridge.
