Getting golf clubs to courses

Going to Ireland for two weeks in August. One week we will travel around Ireland, and then a golf tour the second week. We do not want to travel around with our clubs in the car since we will have 4 people and two golf bags.

I have found a company Sports Express that will mail your clubs to the course, but it is $300 for up to 50 lbs. Any better ideas?? Thanks.

I know most golfers like using their own clubs, but have you ever thought about renting clubs. Most golf courses in Ireland rent clubs.

Darin - I agree with Brian. Rent a bigger vehicle to accomodate your clubs, and also make sure you bring light carry bags.

I have played a lot of golf all over Ireland. There are a few options. The main airports have a left luggage service where you can leave the clubs for a fee, but that is only good if you go back that way before the golf tour. Upgrade the car to a Zafira or mini van and you will have a lot more room and two carry bags won't matter much(you need to bring small stand up bags anyway). If you are on a guided tour maybe they can make arrangements or allow you to drop them somewhere. I personnally would make sure that I had a large enough vehicle to allow me to keep the clubs with me. You might get a nice day and want to just play somewhere that you are near. You could get 7 days of rain on the tour and regret not playing on the nice days. The wives will just have to understand that ALL trips to Ireland are golf trips that they are allowed to go on but must adjust to. Any questions feel free to contact me.
