I did a search but didn't see this question addressed. We are spending a week in Ireland. Our current plan is to go to Dingle after Galway. If possible I would like to avoid driving. (in part because I don't shift gears, in part because I prefer not to drive on the left, in part because most of the trip is along the rail lines.) Anyway, what would the options be for getting there. I don't see a straight train shot from Galway to Tralee (I think the nearest train station.) Has anyone taken the bus? Any ideas would be appreciated.
You're right. It's a very roundabout route by train from Galway to Tralee. The bus will serve you better all the way.
I've only rented cars in Ireland, but I'm familiar with the Journey Planner on the Bus Eireann site. Your bus route is Galway-Limerick-Tralee-Dingle. Departure times are 09:05, 11:05, and 13:05. Arrival times are 15:10, 17:30 (17:20 on Sundays), and 19:20 (19:10 on Sundays).
I've seen the darn things all over the place but never ridden one. Try this: http://www.buseireann.ie/
Thanks...never found the Journey Planner before... went to the "Buy tickets" section and it was "too far in advance."
