Need to overnight near Gatwick Airport. Any recommendations
for inexpensive lodging?
Hi Jolyn,
Try looking and booking the Yotel at Gatwick....there is one at Heathrow which opened in December. I have not slept at either one yet but they look great and the price is right!

Jolynn,
There are tons of B&Bs in Horley, which is about 5 minutes ride from Gatwick. We stayed in one of the many on Massetts Road a few years ago, when we were in the area. Many of the B&Bs have shuttle service to and from the airport, so it's rather convenient.
If you do stay in one of the establishments on that road, be sure to ask if they have an annex to their house. If they do have an annex, request a room in the main house. (We had a horrible experience in a B&B annex there. No one monitored anything going on there, and it was LOUD! Plus, someone let off the fire extinguisher in the night, but when we tried to call, we couldn't get hold of anyone...sigh.)
If you need a restaurant in Horley, I would suggest the Chinese restaurant or the Mediterranean restaurant that were just down Massetts Road toward the train station (if they're still there!)...
Happy travels!

We just got back on Monday from our trip. We stayed in the Travel lodge in South Whyteleafe. It is just a stone's throw from the train which will get you every where you could want to go. It was very inexpensive too. It featured a small cafe in it as well which for 7 pounds had an all you could eat breakfast which was a great inexpensive way to start the day. The staff are most accomodating. I can't recommend this hotel enough!
