We would like to take a day trip from Galway to the Marian Shrine in Knock. We won't have a car and are wondering about the transportation there and back. How long does it take etc.and is it do-able? Thank you

Knock is only about 45 miles from Galway and you can get to Knock via Bus Eireann.
You might also look into a private driver/guide for a day if you don't want to rent your own car. A driver could take you to other places as well (i.e., Connemara) that aren't so readily accessible by public transportation. Your hotel, B&B or the Tourist Information Office in Galway should be able to recommend a few drivers.
