Does anyone have any idea how long a trip this is..looks like it may be a national park type area? Is it worth going to? We will be staying at the Ashford Castle one night and thought it would be fun to drive up to that area.....heard it is VERY pretty! Any ideas?
We did the drive a few years ago and it is very beautiful. I would recommend doing it, it really was stunning.
It is worth the drive. If you have time to spend the night in that area I would recommend - http://www.dolphinbeachhouse.com/dolphinbeachhouse.html
The drive from Galway to Clifden (not Clifton) is about an hour and a half. Connemara National Park is just north of there, and it is a truly stunning drive. My son, who was 27 when we went there, said, "I wish there was a better word than "wow" but that's all I can think of!" Definitely worth the time. And at the top of the circle, you can visit Kylemore Abbey.
