Galway, Ireland International Oyster Festival

From my last posting, I learned that I will be in Galway during the last 2 days of the Oyster Festival. Is this worth attending or should I readjust my travel schedule the last few days of September, 2008? I am traveling to Ireland for the sites, not festivals. However, I would like some feedback from those of you who have attended this festival. I would imagine that B&B reservations whould have to be made now, if I was planning on attending. Thanks, Dorsey

The Oyster Festival is a lot of fun because it is something that attracts a lot of locals (not just tourists). Despite the Festival taking place, there is still plenty to do and see in and around Galway as not everything is focused solely on the festival. Galway will be more crowded than usual during the festival and, as I previously mentioned to you in your other post, BUDGET accommodation can be a bit scarce unless booked in advance.

If festivals aren't your thing, then you might want to adjust your schedule.
