Anyone have experience with Salthill Resort or Galway Bay Hotel? We won't have a car but I don't really want to stay by Eyre Square. Are either of those two doable if we want to go into town?

Jan, since Salthill is only 2 or 3 km west of the city centre you should have no trouble getting a taxi there and back.
