From Paris to London and Dublin

Four of us are planning our trip for the first time to Europe. We are planning on going from Paris to London for a couple of days and then from there go to Dublin. I am wondering what the best way to travel from Paris to London is. Also what the best way to get from London to Dublin would be as well. Any pointers that can be offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

At Euston station in London you can buy tickets from London to Dublin for 29 Pounds each way. It is an open ticket so you can stay as long as you like in Dublin.
It leaves every morning at 9 am and gets to Holyhead Wales, then you catch a Ferry to Dublin. Takes a bit of time but it is scenic and you pass by Conwy castle in Wales.

Linda is right. Take the Eurostar from Paris to London, then take Ryan Air to Dublin. Start watching the specials on Ryan Air, you will save lot of time taking Ryan Air verses the ferry route.

Katie, whatever you decide, do not use Ryanair to get to Dublin. The airline was a nightmare, cost us 200 euros more than we expected and they did not deliver some of the options we paid for in advance. Dublin airport is a also a nightmare to navigate.

For what it's worth, I did not find the Dublin airport difficult to manage.

Ryanair are ruthless and will extract as much money from you as they can. The main thing with them is to read the small print on everything you agree to. If you try and bend their rules it will cost you money. Bear in mind that they are currently charging £15 per kilo for excess baggage..... and they can get quite creative about what IS excess!!

The good thing about Ryanair is that tickets for Stansted-Dublin, Gatwick-Dublin, and Luton-Dublin can be as low as £5. Other posters have given you the bad news.

By booking well in advance you can also get cheap flights on Aer Lingus for either Heathrow-Dublin or Gatwick-Dublin and on BMI for Heathrow-Dublin.

Katie,

I read some of the posts about RyanAir and from our experience I can tell you everything went fine and as scheduled from Prestwick, Scotland to Shannon, Ireland. I paid in advance for all fees and I was very aware of our luggage weights. I also took copies of what I paid for in case there were any issues. To be on the safe side I took some items out and put them on our carry ons.

I booked well in advance I think our fares were 5 pounds a piece, plus all the fees, but in the end it was still faster and cheaper to fly RyanAir. Just make sure to read all the rules prior to going.

To get from the airport in Dublin to the city center I recommend the Patton Flyer, by far one of the easier ways to get around and affordable.

Have Fun!
