I'm flying into Heathrow this week and was hoping to take a train to Bath on my arrival. Can I buy a ticket from Heathrow airport? If not, what station do I go to catch the train to Bath and can I buy a ticket there??
Taking a coach (bus) from Heathrow to Bath would be better, it's a 2 1/2 hr trip. If you want to take the train you could either take a taxi to Slough (15 minute ride) and get the train, will have to change trains in Reading then onto Bath. Or take a coach to Reading (30 miles) to get the train. If you get the train from Heathrow you would have to go into London and change train to Bath.
Do you know how much for bus is from Heathrow?
For an adult it's £20.00, but if you a student or a older person then the price is less. Go to go....http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm there you can fill in all of your information and get the fare that's right for you.
There are regular trains to Bath running from Paddington Station about every 45 minutes or so. Takes about an hour and a half to get to Bath. You can buy tickets for the train at Paddington Station
Yes, there are trains from Paddington, but I don't Jenn wants to go into London, she wants to go to Bath from Heathrow.
Jenn, going directly from Heathrow to Bath is not the easiest or quickest way to go. I've gone to Bath from LHR on coach several times. I do not recommend that method for anyone just off a long flight. It is a long hike to the bus depot and possibly a long wait for a bus....Buses to Reading may run more frequently, but still not the way I would go to take the train......I would take Heathrow Connect (30 min and cheaper than Heathrow Express) to Paddington Station, then a train from there to Bath. Trains to Bath run about every hour....Tickets for Heathrow Connect are available at the airport.....I would buy the train ticket to Bath at Paddington but they may sell them at the ticket booth for Heathrow Connect......My method will cost more than taking a coach or the coach/train combo......The Heathrow Connect or Express is located at the lowest level under the airport, so there is less walking to get to the train than to the coach (bus).....Once you have a ticket, you just get on the next train.
Isn't there a bus from Heathrow to Hayes and Hurlington(?) ? I think it's 10 minute ride and the train from Paddington stops there. I remember doing a search on the National Rail website.
Jenn, we just moved to Bath and have done this trip 3 times so far. By far the easiest is taking Heathrow Express train to Paddington (easy, easy -signs everywhere) and then catching the next train to Bath from Paddington - every 30-60 min usually. (£28) and takes 1.5hrs.
I have also taken the tube from Heathrow to Paddington, then caught the train, and it is a little cheaper, but much more schlepping and harder to find directions.
The bus is called National Express and will take 3 hrs and costs £21. Not worth it if you ask me.
Jenn has already left for the UK.
