We are flying from the U.S. into Amsterdam and then continuing on to London via easyJet. We can fly into either Gatwick, Stansted, or Luton. Does anyone have an opinion as to which airport we should choose and why? Thanks!
All three airports have train connections into London....Stansted and Gatwick's rail stations are in the terminal. At Luton, you take a short bus ride to the train station.
Anna,
I generally prefer Gatwick as it's a smaller airport and somewhat easier to get around. Since I usually stay in the London Victoria neighborhood, it's also very convenient to take the Gatwick Express direct to London Victoria station.
However, as previous posts indicated, there are good transportation connections from all the airports.
Happy travels!
The Gatwick Express runs from Gatwick Airport to Victoria Station. (There are also regional trains from Gatwick to Victoria that take a few more minutes but cost much less.)
The Stansted Express (train) runs from Standsted Airport to Liverpool Street Station.
There are coaches from all the airports that cost a bit less but depending on what time you're traveling could take forever in traffic.
Here's information on how to get from the aiport(s) to London:
To and from Stansted
To and From Gatwick
Thanks for the replies! I will probably go with Gatwick. In looking at transportation from Gatwick into central London, it looks like there are available trains as well as coaches? Is any one better than the other? And can tickets be purchased in advance or at the airport?
