Flying from Belfast to Gatwick airport London. Flybe is 10 min from the Europa Hotel while easyJet is 18 miles. The fares are about the same. I don't know anything about the airlines. Is easyJet worth the extra time???
Both are budget airlines. I have flown Easyjet but not Flybe...Easyjet is fine but so probably is Flybe. The budget airline which gets the most bad press is Ryan Air. For me ,the time of the flight and the proximity of the airport to my accommodation would influence the decision ...if you say costs are similar. Check any additional charges or taxes and baggage allowance.
The benefit of Flybe is they allow you, for a couple of pounds extra, to book a seat of your choice, so you can make sure you sit with someone or have a window seat or whatever it is you'd like. Easyjet doesn't allow this and boarding can be quite a scrum. Also, in my experience the general experience with Flybe is just a bit more friendly. But there's nothing really wrong with either of them. RyanAir are the ones to avoid.
Might also want to check their baggage rules. If you aren't traveling light and have more than one bag, you may get some sticker shock at the check in desk at Belfast. Agree with the above comments - avoid RyanAir. Last time I tried to fly EasyJet from Belfast to Cardiff, they cancelled the plane due to lack of passengers, and diverted us to Exeter and a long bus ride. Not highly impressed. Haven't had any particular bad luck with FlyBe. Glenn in Tucson
