Flats/Studios/Apts with cooking Facilities in Central London

I'd be interested in any experiences finding comfortable and safe 'larger than a budget hotel-room in USA' with cooking facilities for less than US$200.00 per day. Any Suggestions or recent experiences.

Thanks,
Steve & Leela

Central London? Wow, tough call. I'd say the Earl's Court hotel called base2stay is your best bet. They have nice rooms and all have flat screen TV with free basic internet on the TV, and a closet kitchenette. Their most basic room is a bunk room for 93 pounds a night, which with the current exchange rate comes to $161 a night including VAT. Standard double is 107 pounds, or $186.

base2stay is highly recommended on the tripadvisor site.

I've never stayed here but I'm considering it based on comments on this board and positive statements on Trip advisor. A studio will run you about $200/night

The Mansions

They're in Earl's Court not far from Base2stay which is my other choice for my next trip to London.

Try Royal Court Apartments in Bayswater, just north of Hyde Park and the Serpentine , half mile from Buckingham and 3 blocks from Paddington. Last stay, in 2006, was 80£

Check the San Francisco Chronicle's Sept. 7 lead article in the Travel Section. It lists 10 places to stay in London for 100 pounds (about $200) or less. One has a kitchenette.

Check londonconnection.com. I saw an apt listed for $195/night (including VAT tax and cleaning fee).

We found a nice two bed two bath apartment in South Kensington. It was the same price as the hotel room we had booked at base2stay, and I like the idea of having our own washer and dryer as well as full kitchen for making our own breakfast or a sandwich to take with us on the road the next day. We found it on english-manner.com which has an office in Los Angeles. Glo there is a real nice lady and very helpful, I'd highly recommend them!
