I will be in the Flam area in June of this year and instead of taking a fast boat to Bergen after my stay in Flam, I'm thinking about taking a boat to Gudvargen, the bus to Voss, and then the train to Bergen. Has anyone done this itinerary? It sounds nice from what I've read but there was no information on the hour train ride from Voss to Bergen. Is that a nice part of the itinenary also?

The route that you are describing is the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour route. I've done both routes that you mention (Oslo-Flam-Gudvangen-Voss-Bergen) and by boat Bergen-Flam. Both are scenic.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll do the ferry, bus, train to Bergen instead of the fast boat. Now all I need to do is figure out a way to purchase the ferry & bus portion of this trip. I already have a Scanrail Pass that will cover the train. Thanks again.
