First trip such a success we want another!

Rick's books really don't go into alot of detail for things for kids. Our 10yr old really loved London's Duck tour and the Tower of London. At this point in the planning stage we aren't particular on place/region. What do you others with young children recommend?

Thanks!

Our kids seemed to enjoy ruined castles, mines, medieval museums, hiking trails, boat rides and all animals a lot.

We started taking our kids to Europe when they were between 9 and 11 years old. They loved Austria- espeically Salzburg- do the salt mine tour! Scotland was also a big hit. Lots of Castles, ghost stories, legends, etc. Not to mention Kilts and bagpipes. Inverness is a really great place to base yourself and have lots to do without having to travel/move often.

Ten-year olds like museums and castles and palaces. I recommend going to southern Germany and Austria : Munich, Neuschwanstein, Salzburg, and Vienna.

If your are headed for Edinburgh and Scotland add Dynamic Earth to the sites you can see there. It's great fun and full of information for kids about geology, biology and Scotland. Also, the castle in St. Andrews had amazing tunnels from when people tried to leave and/or get in by mining. Go to www.visitscotland.com and click on the visitor guide, things to see and do and then find families down in the lower right. All sorts of ideas are there. I bet there are similar sites for England, Ireland, Wales. You might have to check by city for continental ideas, but with a little surfing it's amazing what you find out.
