Ferry/Train trip from Dublin to Scotland

We are planning a trip this summer and need to get from Dublin to Scotland, We are thinking about taking the night ferry and train but there is a 4 hour layover in Holyhead between the Ferry and Train, Any ideas on what we can do to get some rest? Thanks Barb

We are traveling this summer from Scotland to Dublin and thought about the train/route but after investigating further we decided on flying via Ryanair. Out total ticket price for two is $45 USD. Not too bad. Granted, if you've never flown Ryanair it's an experiencethey are strict on luggage restrictions, etc. and have steep fees if you exceed the size and weight restrictions. We are checking a bagit's worth the 25 pounds in my opinion because it is still a cheaper trip than the other options we looked intoand faster!

You could take either a train or bus from Dublin to Belfast, a ferry from Belfast to Stranraer, and a train from Stranraer to wherever you first wish to go in Scotland. There are six sailings daily and the crossing takes 2hr20min. For more information, go here.

Thanks! I have looked into both of those options and will check with my group!
