Has anyone taken Irish Ferries from Cherbourg to Ireland? If so, can you comment on your thoughts? Suggestions?

I have taken the ferry from Cherbourg to Dover in the Fall. The only unpleasant part is the rough seas we found at that time of year.
There is no way to predict weather; so you must be prepared for anything.
Most water travelers suggest you find a place midships on the ferry for the best ride.
I have sailed across the channel several other times and found smooth water.
