Ferry from Clare to Kerry

Has anyone ever taken the ferry from Killimer to Tarbert? Do you know how to find more info about it? It looks like taking the ferry would decrease our travel time travelling from County Clare on the way to Dingle.

It's basically a car ferry that crosses the Shannon. Not much to it really but it saves having to journey inland through Limerick. Well worth it if you don't plan on going to Limerick or anywhere immediately north of there.

Just drive up, wait in the queue, drive on, pay then drive off. Takes about 20 minutes

You pay during the trip. Someone comes around and collects the money. I wish I could tell you how much for certain. I think it was 12 euro but I'm sure I'm wrong.

It's a great timesaver versus driving all the way around.

By the way, the only really nasty "major" roads I encountered in Ireland were in County Clare. The roads in Kerry were a dream compared to Clare.
