My husband and I are considering taking the ferry from Amsterdam to Harwich on the Stena Line the middle of May. We understand it is about a 5 hour trip, but were wondering if anyone has taken it and how rough the trip was. A few people have mentioned to us that we could possibly encounter very rough seas.
Been both ways on that route. Not Amsterdam but Hoek van Holland. No issues with the channel. The ferry is about the size and shape of a football field. That's the fast one. The slow one is a normal ship and have no experience on that one. I would not risk the North Sea in winter - May should be fine. YMMV
Thanks Nigel - that is encouraging!
You can take a train from Amsterdam to London for as little as 99 euros each. It takes only 6.5 hours including transfer time in Brussels. Why not consider that instead of the 8 hour ferry ride (including train from Amsterdam to ferry dock, and train from Harwich to London)?
Thanks, Dave - that is something we will consider!
