We will be driving from London to Swansea this summer and would like to try (if our London hotel allows us to change our booking!) to spend one night in the Cotswolds from London and and before our stay in Swansea. Never been to the Cotswolds before and don't know much about it, other than it's so pretty. We'd like to find reasonable-priced accommodation for a family of 4 - two children (ages 11 and 13). Any recommendations? If nothing specific, where should I look for as to towns/villages to stay? Stow-on-the-Wold Bibury Tetbury The Coln Valley The Slaughters
Anything else? Thank you so much.
Chipping Camden is the biggest village with the most variety of accomodations. Stow is a very popular center with many accomodations. But the Cotswolds are really so compact, do a search and see what you find that looks interesting. Just ve sure you are in the scenic part (ie not towards Stroud which is more towny).
Other larger villages would be Braodway and Burford.
Brian, thank you so very much. The info you've posted is so very helpful. If we have a car, would staying in Stroud, Evesham, or Ewen be too far, do you think? We'll be there for one night. The reason I ask is that many, many places are already fully booked for those dates OR are far beyond our price range. Our options right now are: Stroud Evesham Minchinhampton Circenster Tetbury
Snowshill Thank you so very much.
Yes, I know that I'm replying to myself.
Premier Inns are good and nice, it seems - but we're not sure which ones or which location would be ideal. Although, I would love a nice family-friendly B&B also. Just as long as it's nice and not too expensive. Thank you again.
Negin Bourton on the water is very pretty, but it seems a pity to travel through without seeing more. If you stay in Evesham you can visit Stratford on Avon about 15 mins away in the morning and then Broadway 10 mins away in the afternoon, Snowshill is delightful and only 5 mins out of Broadway. Chipping Campden is within easy reach too. Fab little friendly hotel, Evesham Hotel by beautiful park, river and town. Ultra child friendly with gardens, or Northwick Hotel facing river, alternative is Premier Inn The Orchards just outside town. Have a brilliant trip.

Thanks so much, Karen.
We're looking so forward to it!
Welcome aboard Karen! Good to have you. That was good advice, but you must be a much faster driver than me to make Stratford from Evesham in 15 minutes. Although it isn't much over 15 miles, there are sections of 50 mph and cameras. The A46 is relatively fast but can have problems, even with the suicide lane section. I would take closer to 30 minutes for that stretch.
