Falmouth to Mount St. Michael Day Trip

Our cruise ship will be in Falmouth 9:00-6:00. Oceania is offering a trip to the Mount (with a few stops) for $152/pp (that's with a discount if booked ahead). Other people on Cruise Critic have said one can take a local bus that takes approx. 1 hr. ea way, assuming everyone else on the ship doesn't have the same idea! Has anyone taken a private tour that costs less than $300 for 2 people, or used a taxi? Please post any details. Thanks.

At that price you could rent a car and do it for a lot less. However a bus service would be more convenient

The St Michaels Mount web page states that there are frequent bus services from Penzance to Marazion

Although you've posted in the North Forum and mentioned Falmouth, your word-order/syntax in the title is going to throw some people off: St Michael's Mount is in England Mont St Michel is in France Now, maybe you ca get some help. My only contrbution is that I know buses run from Falmouth to Penzance and I think from Penzance to Crowlas. I have no idea how you'd do the last couple of miles.

If you can arrange a car rental...last September my wife took a painting class in Falmouth. I dropped her off at 10 AM, which left me with the car until she was done at 5 PM. I drove to Mount St. Michael, then went out to Lands End, then toured Minack Theatre (breathtaking location, just wanted to see it - no performance), went up the road to the Merry Maiden stone circle, and made it back to Falmouth in plenty of time. Granted, I had lunch on the run (a pasty and a soft drink), but we had dinner at Rick Stein's seafood restaurant in Falmouth to conclude the day. So again, with a car, you'll be able to take in a lot more than just the Mount. Good luck!

Just to be clear, I was indeed referring to St. Michael's Mount near Falmouth, NOT Mont St. Michel in France. That's why I put this in the category of Britain and not France. I've since found out from the Mount's website that it's closed on Saturdays, and it just so happens that we'll be there on a Saturday!

Sooo Your cruise company offered it by mistake? With what are they going to replace it?
