Hi, it sure looks inexpensive to fly from Bristol to Edinburgh via Easy Jet when I am in the UK this spring. I'm guessing there are baggage fees because there is a note mentioning there may be additional fees when I check-in. I will just have one bag and a purse - just curious if anyone can give me an idea of the "fee"??
MB, The fees should be clearly listed on their website. Will you be checking the "one bag"? One point to note is that budget airlines in Europe usually allow only ONE carry-on item. That doesn't mean one plus a "personal item" such as a Purse, it means ONE ONLY of the approved size (in my experience they do often check the size). If you're going to check your bag, it would be prudent to get an accurate idea of the weight and pay any baggage fees at the time of booking. If they find that your bag is overweight at the time of check-in, the costs are higher. You'll probably pay a fee for using a non-E.U. credit card to book the flight. That was the case when I flew with EasyJet last year. I suspect that other budget airlines are similar. I find the airport in Bristol to be fairly easy to navigate, as it's a bit smaller than others. Happy travels!
Just go to the EasyJet website and do a mock booking (stop before you put your credit card in) to see what the fees are. Easyjet will add on an administrative fee. If you select to pay with a credit card, they'll add a fee for that. Finally, if you want to check a bag you should pay the additional fee when you buy your ticket. You'll pay about twice as much if you wait until you get to the airport. On an easyjet ticket that I purchased recently, the admin fee was 9 GBP, the credit card was 4.95 GBP, and the baggage was 11 GBP.
Along with the size of the bag it is something discount airlines such as Easy Jet and Ryan Air take seriously. While catching a flight in Munich I witnessed two young women literally taking clothes out of their bags and putting them on so they would be under the allotted weight.
There is no weight restriction as such on hand baggage with Easyjet but see below from their website "No weight restriction applies however you must be able to place and retrieve the item of baggage safely in the overhead lockers without assistance. Small items must be placed underneath the seat in front"
This is very helpful information. Our bags are the right size so I think I will book this part and cross my fingers on the fees.
MB, you will need to be able to fit your purse into your bag. easyjet only allows one bag as carry-on.
