Has anyone experienced problems using euros in 100 & 200 denominations in Ireland? I ordered some euros from Wells Fargo and received several 100 & 200 bills. I would be using these at several B&Bs on our trip who are giving a discount for cash payments rather than credit card.
If it's close to the bill amount, no problem. I wouldn't want to try to buy a beer with a 200 note. Just an issue of change available, nothing else.
Thanks. I would only be using the large bills at the B&Bs and yes, they are in the Republic of Ireland. I was concerned since I had read on several financial pages that Ireland was having a huge problem in counterfit 100 euros and that many establishemnts don't accept them.
You could always stop into a bank once you get there and get change.
There have been problems with counterfeit €100, but if you have difficulty, get them changed at a bank.
In bigger towns banks are open Mon-Fri 10-4 (sometimes til 5 on Monday. In smaller towns, they close 1 hour for lunch.
Do not worry about it...you will be fine.
Enjoy your trip!
