Norway uses the Krone, not the Euro. Get your cash from ATM's in Norway, and if you are uncomfortable, buy some before you leave home from a bank. However, we always just use ATM's.

Norway uses the Krone ( plural Kroner ), not the Euro, as it is not a member of the EU, but I would expect that you can exchange Euros at banks, currency exchanges, etc, etc. If you are travelling to Norway and only Norway, get Kroner...

You will want the local currency. Why not just stop at an ATM when you arrive?

Kathryn, we just returned from a week in Norway in June. We used our ATM/debit cards to get some Krona when we arrived at the ariport. In some tourist areas downtown in Oslo they took Euro and US dollars also. After our initial withdrawal we did not us any more cash, we just used our atm card for everything and it was never a problem. The last day we spent all our remaining cash we had withdrawn the first day. Good luck.

Glenn said: "Norway uses the Krone (plural Kroner), not the Euro, as it is not a member of the EU..." Glenn's response is mostly right (and exactly right for your immediate purpose), but it is wrong in implying that use of the euro is synonomous with being a member of the EU. Of the 27 EU members, only 17 are on the euro. I'm headed to Sweden and Denmark (both EU members) soon, and have to deal with different kroner for each of those countries. Of the other 10 EU members, 7 are required to move to the euro eventually, but 3 (Sweden, Denmark, UK) don't have that obligation. In addition, Montenegro (a non-EU country) uses the euro. So do Monaco, Vatican City, and San Marino - all non-EU states. If you plan future trips to Europe, you need to be aware of the above, as it can affect your choices in what you do about local currency. And it can change over time, so unless you follow this stuff, wise to check in before heading off on trips. Norway is beautiful - you'll love it!
