Eplet Bed & Apple in Solvorn, Scandinaive

We are thinking about staying at the Eplet Bed & Apple in Solvorn this summer. We are a family of 4 and we're somewhat apprehensive as we've never stayed in a hostel before. They do have some double rooms available with shared bathrooms. The only other option there is the Walaker Hotel which is extremely expensive. Can anyone tell me about this place from their experience? Thanks.

All the hostels that I have stayed at in Scandinavia have been decent, but this Eplet place is NOT a hostel. It is someone's private home. There are lots of reviews on tripadvisor. I'd suggest you read through those first.

I've already read the reviews on trip advisor, but I can't get a sense if this particular place makes sense for a family of four (2 of which are older teenagers). We're used to staying in comfortable hotels, which I know this is not. I just want to make sure it won't be uncomfortable and awkward.

That's great. I appreciate the response. We'll certainly stay there.

Hi Larry, my husband and I stayed there last summer and loved it. There was also another family staying there and they had two of the double rooms upstairs and we were signed the triple because that was all that was left in that portion of the house. (My understanding is that there are other accommodations on the property but we did not see them.) The view of the fjord from the windows and balcony on the second floor is lovely. You share a bathroom upstairs, which was not awkward since it was just two families. There are common areas downstairs where younger folks and hikers seemed to like to hang out. There was also a kitchen there where we had been assigned a shelf of the fridge for any groceries we might have. The other family staying there was cooking, and while we just did some grab and go kind of meals, we did enjoy hanging out in the kitchen and chatting with them. There is free wifi, lots of books in the living room, and maps laying about that people were using. It is a working farm. There is a raspberry and apple orchard and some sheep. I forget the owner's name, but he was very nice. He helped us plan some activities such as our glacier hike, as well as advise us on a scenic drive to take. You can purchase the raspberry juice and the apple juice that his farm produces right from his office, which is in the house. The Walaker Inn looked nice, but I just couldn't justify the price. We had a lovely stay at Eplet. If you have any other questions, please let me know. :-)
