England to Amsterdam Round trip

Hello,

Can anyone tell me the best way to get from England to Amsterdam? I will need to have a round trip ticket as I intend to fly into England and then commute the rest of the way to Amsterdam. I will be in Amsterdam for 4 days than return and stay in England for 7 more days. I am not sure how the Euro rail works. I looked at the website but it was not clear. Is there any other transportation, which can be used to get Amsterdam? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Susan

Why not fly? EasyJet (easyjet.com)has regular service and cheap flights to Amsterdam from most UK airports. You do not say where you are flying from in England, but yo can check the website and see if they serve is an airport near where you are staying. Eurostar to Brussels and another train to Amsterdam is possible from London, but it is not cheap.

A ferry is also worth consideration especially if you will be away from the London. It would function a lot like a sleeper train. Board about 7 pm and be over on the continent when you wake up the next morning about 9 am. Several ports along the east coast to consider.

Can you book your transatlantic ticket with a stopover in London both ways but with the destination as AMS. Sometimes you may be able to get this at just a slight cost over the transatlantic portion.

Keep in mind that if you have tickets that start/end in the UK you will have to pay the massive taxes (these will already be included in your ticket).

If flying between LON-AMS, there are lots of options. You can also try flying out of London City airport which is close in to the center of London. Unfortunately, I cannot remember if there is public transport to LCY or whether you will need to use a cab.

If you book your train ticket well enough in advance you can get 99euro round trip tickets from London to Amsterdam (www.nshispeed.nl). I would highly recommend this route over flying. It is a longer train ride, but when you factor in getting to the airports outside of London, waiting at the airport, flying, and going from Schipol to Amsterdam it is about the same time. Travel on the trains is so much nicer - more room, ability to move around, ect...
