England Nat'l Railways Tickets and 2for1 Program

I've been seeing a lot of talk about the London Travelcard and the 2FOR1 deal (daysoutguide.co.uk). I am very interested in the 2FOR1 deals, but I won't need a Travelcard because we are a party of five and will probably use taxis instead of buses and trains while in London. However, we will be commuting in from outside zone 6 on a National Railway Line (Southeastern), so we will have National Railways Tickets. The website seems to indicate those are valid too for using the 2FOR1 deal (I'm assuming the offer has to be used the date of the tickets). I just want to make sure that I am correct in my understanding because most posts have specified the Travelcard with regards to the 2FOR1 deals. Hope that's not too confusing?

The 2 for 1 promotion is run by the railways and is aimed originally at the British to encourage them to use the train over the car on their visits to London. Its just a loophole that visitors have exploited by buying Travelcards from a Central London Railway Statio. As its still a ticket bought from the railways the Travelcard with their rail logo on it qualifies for the 2 for 1 promotion. That is why Travelcards bought from Underground Stations or anywhere else but railway stations are not valid for 2 for 1. So to answer your question you sound exactly the type of person this promotion is aimed at with proper railway tickets.
No doubt if too many people exploit the Travelcard loophole its that that will probably be made not valid for 2 for 1.

Thanks so much, Bob. Very pleased that I will be able to make use of that great deal. My daughter will definitely want to go on the London Eye and I wasn't looking forward to paying for a family of four to ride on it! Plus, there are other 2 for 1 deals we could take advantage of, which could save us a bundle!
