We are considering taking one of Rick's Scotland tours this September. The tours begin on Sundays, and we think it would be wise to arrive in Edinburgh on Saturday (especially with the time of day we would probably arrive.) I am finding that most hotels and B&Bs do not accept Saturday arrivals for a one night stay. Has anyone attempted to book a one night stay with a Saturday arrival in Edinburgh, and if so, how did you make it work?

Tim, Have you checked with the hotel that you are staying with for the tour? When I did the Berlin/Prague and Vienna tour I came in a day early and stayed at the same hotel which worked well as I didn't have to change hotels. I've never had a problem with a one night stay in Edinburgh except during the festival. If you are in that time frame there may be some issues. But if you can't get the Tour Hotel to let you in early, try the Walton which was a B&B I stayed in this fall. I stayed only one night. It was not a Saturday however. When i was in a somewhat similar situation, the tour operator was able to get me in to the tour hotel the day before. Have you asked Rick's people to help. When we organize conventions we always arrange with the hotel for prior day arrivals
