Edinburgh lodging for 3 adults May 17 2010

Our 19 year old son will be traveling with us to Scotland. We don't want to make reservations anywhere else, but we would feel good about making reservations in Edinburgh as our first destination. Any suggestions? We are 3 friendly "adults" but do need 2 beds and are hoping for a decent rate.

We like to stay at the Royal British. It is across Princes St. from Waverly train station. Reasonable and a good breakfast.

I've stayed at the Inverlieth Hotel near the Royal Botanic Gardens. I like it because it's close enough to get up to Prince's Street and The Royal Mile easily, but gets me out of the tourist crush. They were also an early non-smoking hotel and had small residence bar. It's family hotel.

Other areas to look include the Dalkeith Road area and on Calton Hill. TripAdvisor has great reviews. Just remember to look at the number of posts the reviewer has. That way you know it's not a one off. You should look for hotels/ B&B's with family rooms. These rooms have multiple beds.
