Edinburgh/ Brussels

Hi all,
My friend and I are planning a 12 night trip to London at the end of the year. We want to spend a day or 2 away from London and visit Edinburgh and maybe Brussels. I've been to London and am familiar with the city but I have never been to Edinburgh or Brussels. We want to take the train to Edinburgh and will be taking the Eurostar to Brussels. I would love advice on how to get there from London. Also any recommendations on hotels and how to get there from the train/Eurostar station would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Waverly Station in Edinburgh is right in the middle of the city. So, it's very easy to get to hotels and sights. I stayed recently at The Walton a guest house in New Town. http://www.waltonhotel.com/location_walton.html The room was good and the staff helpful. It was also affordable! ; ) There are lots of choices for hotels and B&Bs in Edinburgh. I like staying near New Town, but others prefer being closer to the Royal Mile. Is your trip going to be over New Years? If so, you should celebrate it in Edinburgh. Hogmany is a huge party and Edinburgh is the capital. ; )

Hi Pam,
We plan to celebrate the new year in London. We were hoping to catch a train the next morning to Edinburgh. Thank you for your suggestions, I will definitely check them out.

We have stayed at the Royal Britian Hotel in Edinburgh. It is on Princes St. across from Waverly Station. However, New Years (Hogmany) is a VERY important holiday in Scotland and there will be LOTS of visitors in the city. They do a really big celebration. I'd try to book a room as soon as possible. You may need to try several places.
