Eating in Balestrand, Norway

There are not a lot of restaurants in Balestrand. Has anyone eaten at the Kviknes Hotel. We are not big eaters but love fresh fish. Would the price, $100 a person be worth it? What about Pilgrim and Ciderhuset? Thanks Marie

We stayed at Kvikne's two nights and had dinner in the hotel both nights. The first night we had the set menu which was lovely gourmet food. The second night the set menu had an "allergy problem" for us, so we did the buffet. The food was good, but the set menu the night before was much better....Try to get a view table overlooking the fjord for a memorable evening.

My husband and I just left Balestrand. We had a delicious soup at the Kviknes Hotel bar that came with lots of bread and two glasses of wine. That was our way of avoiding the extremely high cost of purchasing a full dinner at their restaurant. It also gave us the feel of experiencing that place.

Thank you Cynthia and Lily: I think both of your suggestions are worth considering. Either the set menu, or eating at the bar. The buffet just doesn't seem like us. Hope you both enjoyed your visit there.
