Hello, My husband and I are traveling to London Aug-Sep this year and would like a budget hotel to stay at for 3 days in Aug and 3 days in Sep. EasyHotel seemed like a good choice, as we are both not very demanding travelers (we camp a lot in our little tent) when it comes to accommodation. But this hotel does raise some questions in my mind: 1- There are complaints about bed bugs in this hotel on tripadvisor.com. Any of you who have stayed here had a problem with this or the cleanliness of the hotel in general? 2- I am unable to visualize the difference between a small room and standard room. Is the size difference between the two big enough to make an impact on our experience? 3- Does a window in the room really make a difference? 4- It looks like the Victoria location is more central to sights than Earl's court. But I read somewhere that Earl's court would be the cleaner, quieter option. Is this true? Thanks,
Raji
Haven't stayed at Easy Hotel, but no window is a deal breaker for me. Given your dates have you looked at the LSE student rooms? http://www.lsevacations.co.uk/
Thanks Kathy! Have you stayed at any of their locations? Would you recommend one particular location over another? Raji.
Raji, we have stayed at one of the LSE dorms 2 times and love the location. It is near the Covent Garden Tube shop, easy walking distance to CG, West End theaters, the British Museum, the National Gallery, etc. Did I say that we LOVE the location!
I've stayed at the Holborn and the Drury Lane locations. Those two may be the easiest if you're flying into Heathrow as you can take the Piccadilly line tube direct. But really, any of the central locations are great.
I've stayed at easyHotel Paddington for a few nights and didn't experience any bedbug issues, can't speak for other locations...rooms are very small and no furniture, just the bare essentials, bed and tiny bathroom...but for budget conscious travelers, without the need of any frills, and who don't plan on spending any significant amount of time in the room besides sleeping, sure it works...I camp a fair bit in tent as well, so had no problems with this form of accommodation at all...the window I had offered a spectacular view of the roof next door, but that was about it...lol...didn't plan on seeing London through my hotel window anyway so what the hey...
I stayed at the Victoria easyHotel last October (2010) and found it clean and well maintained. The small room w/o a window is fine for 1 person but I would recommend going up 1 level if there are 2 in your party. I had the small room by myself and it was fine, but my traveling companions found it a bit confining for 2. I also think I would "splurge" and get a room w/a window if only so that I might get a bit a fresh air. I did find the room a little warm at night. If you have any problems with stairs you might ask to be on the main floor - there where will only be the 4-5 steps to get in the building.
