East Midlands, UK or Manchester

I know that these choices may seem odd..but I suddenly find myself with three days at the end of the month and want to go with a friend to the UK. The airports in these two places offer the cheapest fares. So...where to go to? Thanks!

From Manchester it's two hours by car to Caernarvon. You pass by Conwy enroute. Beaumaris is across the strait. Snowdonia is up the hill.

If all flights to the UK were the same price, where would you choose to go? The closest railway station to East Midlands airport is Long Eaton, and from there you can be in London in 1 hour 35 minutes, with Advance tickets at the end of the month at £21 each way. Bus to Long Eaton takes 20 minutes and costs £8 return. So, if you would really like to go to London perhaps the question is whether you would save £50 or more by flying into East Midlands rather than, say, Gatwick. OK, £40 if you add the cheapest trains to and from Gatwick. East Midlands is near the Peak District National Park. It's also near the cities of Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby. Manchester airport is 1 hour 30 minutes by train from the Lake District National Park. Manchester itself is a city of around 500,000 people and has a lot of attractions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester#Culture

East Midlands Airport is in Leicestershire and although this county is skipped over like many others in Rick Steve's quick circle of Britain there is plenty to see and do locally - all depends on your interests really.
