We want to be central, near all the sights, in a nice and authentic hotel. We're willing to splurge for a great place.

Not sure what an "authentic" hotel is, but you could check the Glen Guesthouse on Gardiner St. It's a couple of blocks from O'Connell St and just across the bridge from the Temple Bar area. www.glenguesthouse.com
