There is also Yelp.com that works in larger cities for England and Ireland. It has the usual issues with user submitted reviews but I found it very useful because you can narrow it down by neighborhood and find things by map. And it tends to be more current than annually updated guidebooks. Don't have too much to pass on personally - had fine food in Dublin - but nothing jumps out at me. I found the food in Dublin very expensive so that probably moderated our food adventure-ism.

We enjoyed Gallaghers Boxty House in Temple Bar. The food was very good and they had live music to enjoy during our dinner.
