Looking to go to Dublin over Easter for almost two weeks. Looking at airfares out of JFK seem to be cheapest at $694pp. Does anyone know if this is a good fare? Could also leave out of Newark or Philadelphia. Also, is the weather nice end of march, beginning of April? Thanks.
The weather can be decent, or not. I have taken two trips to Ireland in April, and two in late February. Late March, early April should be OK. Take layers, one of them waterproof, and you should be fine. As for airfares, they change all the time. What airline are you planning on flying with? Since you have some time, you could set up fare alerts with Kayak for the cities you could potentially fly out of.
Hi Nancy, thanks for your reply. I don't have a particular airline I need to fly with. Since there will be 5 of us travelling, I wanted to make sure we buy at the lowest fare we can get.
$694 is an EXCELLENT price for an overseas flight. I doubt you'll find anything significantly cheaper. Ireland is warmer than it's latitude would suggest, but you can expect rain at any time of year.
April was gorgeous in Dublin this year, the best weather we've had all year, but Irish weather is (very) difficult to predict and impossible to rely on. In general April would be mostly dry but cool.
Depending on how much different the cost would be, I am assuming you are in Reading, Pa. I would fly out of either Phila or Newark as I hate the drive to JFK, especially when coming back from Europe. Have been to Dublin in March and it was not that bad, just a little damp.
