Dublin on Christmas Day

Greenhorn tavelers going to Ireland for the first time and due to travel contraints we will be in Dublin on Christmas Day. Will anything - restaurants, pubs, grocery - be open? What about on St. Stephen's Day? Also, is public transportation running on those days (can't seem to find that info online)? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the insights. I like your advice about hunkering down in our hotel, if we could find one in the city - seems everyone in spending Christmas in Dublin, so I'm guessing something will be open. ;)

I finally found that Dublin bus service on public holidays is the same schedule as on Sundays, in case anyone else needs to know.

And, yes, we are not so used to wet weather, so thanks for that tip, too!

You might try staying in a hotel or B&B in Dun Laoghaire. It's on the Dart line.

I've always been under the impression that NOTHING is open on Christmas Day.
