My husband and I will be in Dublin for NYE we are thinking of taking a tour that will get us back to Dublin at 6pm. Any suggestions for dinner for NYE in Dublin.
Also has anyone been to Newgrange or is it worth it? We are only there for 4 days.
Newgrange is incredible - one of my favorite places in Ireland! It's one of two day trips that we here frequently recommend for people staying in Dublin. I think you can get a half-day tour that goes there, though I'm not sure because I always rent a car. It's about a 45 minute drive from Dublin. Bus tours might include the Hill of Tara and/or Slane, but Knowth (same visitor center as Newgrange) is closed in the winter. Check with the Tourist Information office for information about tours.
Christine,
If you're into ancient history and what Ireland was like before Christianity, then Newgrange is a great place to go.
My wife and I took the Mary Gibbons tour last year, which also included the Hill of Tara. We were picked up at a hotel a couple of blocks north of the Liffey in the late AM, and dropped off there at about 4 PM.
Thanks so much. We will add Newgrange into our itinerary. Thanks, Christine
