DUBLIN Looking 4 lodging w/ no noise or bars downstairs and < $120

Any other suggestions for B&B, apartment or hotel that is quiet, nice, has some charactoer and includes breakfast near Stephens Green in Dublin 2? Thanks so much. I am leaving on Tuesday for a few weeks, yeah!! I have read all the books by Rick Steves and fodors, etc...a lot of them are already booked up for single rooms that weekend...wonder if there are any secret places to stay that may not have email and just phone that someone could send me a private message about.

Rachel,

I don't think you're going to find a room with all that near Stephens Green. If you're willing and/or able to stay a short train ride away from the city center, then I'd stay in Dun Laoghaire.

It's a great small town with character and a pretty harbor. There are many nice B&Bs there that are about 35 euros per person per night. We stayed at Ophira House and loved it. It's just 15 minutes by train from the city center, and trains run regularly until about midnight.

I stayed at Trinity College. I loved it. It was a great location, and at least when I was there...very quiet

Unfortunately, Trinity College does not offer rooms until later in the summer. You could try Grafton Guesthouse on South Great George's Street. You are about a 7 minute walk to the Green, 5 minutes to Trinity, under 5 minutes to Dublin Castle, Temple Bar. They have some singles and doubles in your budget.

Full breakfast is included in the rates. Bus 16A from Dublin Airport makes a stop right outside their front door. There are a number of restaurants and a grocery nearby. There are a few pubs along South Great George's, so if you are in Dublin on a weekend, you may hear some noise when the pubs let out. If that is going to be a problem, request a room that faces away from the street.

If you don't care about the character or free breakfast, you could try Jurys Inn as they have special rates around 79 Euro.

Rachel - I just stayed at the Best Western Premier Academy Hotel located just off O'Connell. I booked it through Booking.com and it was a pay 2 nights get the 3rd night free deal. The price for 3 nights was 66 euros per night. Breakfast, if you want it, would be an extra 10 euros. We didn't eat there. The location was perfect. The buses are around the corner, the airport Airlink bus dropped up off directly outside and the hop on hop off bus was across the street. It was also an easy walk to Temple Bar, Trinity College, etc. It was quiet and the room was very nice.

You can also try vrbo for an apartment. It won't have free breakfast, but it will let you live like a local!
