Dublin, Kinsale, Dingle, Galway and back to Dublin.

I have 6 days after seeing Dublin for 2 days to see SW Ireland. i have never been there. Traveling with my wife and 16 year old boy. We will be driving. Currently we are planning to stay in Kinsale one night, Dingle 2 and Galway 1. We still have 2 more days to see other things before we ly out of Dublin. Any must sees given this general itinerary?
Thanks,

You will find that driving in Ireland can be quite slow. And you'll want to stop frequently to admire the view or take a walk. With that in mind, you might want to spend the night somewhere between Dublin and Kinsale. I suggest that you spend one night in Kenmare on your way from Kinsale to Dingle. Take the coastal route from Kinsale to Kenmare. Spend some time in Killarney National Park on your way from Kenmare to Dingle. And definitely give yourselves two nights in Dingle.

You might consider leaving Dublin going south to Powerscourt, Glendalough and other sights in Wicklow and then spend the night in Killkenny going on to Kinsale the next day by way of the Rock of Cashel. There is a great deal to see in this part of Ireland.

I think Kilkenny would be a good first stop, too. Or you might even consider stopping in the Cork area the first night, depending on how much driving you want to do.

I am sure that many will have lots of opinions on this, but here are some of mine. I would definitely not change your 2 nights in Dingle and you could even add a night there, but 2 would be enough. Don't miss the Slea Head drive.
You might consider another night in Galway, your 16 year old will probably really like it here. This is a really cool city, a local there described it as the San Fransisco of Ireland. We had 2 nights there and wished we had more. I should also add to check out Joan's Periwinkle B&B. She was a wonderful hostess and our room was great, close walking distance, but just far enough away and great breakfast. From Galway you could do a visit to the Aran Island (it was bad weather the day we planned to go and didn't do it for fear that we would not be able to make it back to the main land for our flight) or you could do a day trip drive through the Connemara region. Very beautiful region with some interesting sights along the way. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Any way you go, Ireland is wonderful, have fun!!!
