Dublin in May

We'll be in the Dublin area in mid-May. What will be the weather be like at that time?

Wet sometimes, overcast sometimes, sunny sometimes. Often all three within an hour's time. Might get some weather in the 60s, could be cooler, or at least feel cooler/damper when the sun isn't shining. Might get some 70s, but maybe not. It has even been known to hit 80 in late May, but it probably won't. Depending upon location, it could be windy, then again maybe not. Same for fog. Might have some, but maybe not. Depends upon where you are in Dublin area. The trick is layers. You may add and subtract layers off and on all day. Make sure you have an outer layer that is rain resistant.

Thanks. Sounds like here in Texas - if you don't like the weather, wait 30 minutes. I'll follow your advice about layering.

We had great weather in May. I think I read it's the driest month of the year, we only had a couple of showers and really never affected our sightseeing.

"We had great weather in May. I think I read it's the driest month of the year." Not really. It is 5th driest.

When I spent a week there in May it only rained twice: Once for four days and once for three. Seriously, it is impossible to say what the weather will be. I go expecting the worst and then when it is not I feel lucky. Just take a jacket, preferably with a hood, that is waterproof and not just water resistant.

I've gone to Ireland twice in May and the weather can be anything. Last year, it hailed on us but before our two weeks were up, it got hot. I take a fleece jacket and a hooded rainjacket. With layers you'll be fine. Have a great trip!
